Jody Arman-Jones
Snorri West Co-Director since 2016
Board Member since 2019 Representing Icelandic Emigrants and their Descendants in North America (INLNA/INLUS)
Snorri Plus Alumna - 2012
Jody has a profound appreciation for her diverse family history, which includes Icelandic heritage on her father’s side. Her own roots are in North Dakota, though she has spent the majority of her adult life in Minnesota. She has degrees in Health Education, Physical Education, French, and Coaching.
Her first teaching assignment was in an international school just outside of Geneva, Switzerland (which paved the way for her first trips to Iceland). Later, she worked in traditional public schools, in the healthcare system, and for the American Red Cross back in Minnesota. Besides her lifelong commitment to being an educator, Jody has actively volunteered for many organizations and causes over the years.
After years of marriage, which have included raising two children and welcoming three grandchildren, Jody still marvels at all things Icelandic. She is a 2012 alumna of Snorri Plus, and her daughter was a 2013 Snorri. Jody coordinated the Minnesota leg of the 2016 Snorri West trip, currently serves on the Icelandic National League of North America (INLNA) Board of Directors, and is the Snorri West Co-Director for both INLNA and INLUS (Icelandic National League of the United States). In addition, she is a long-term member of the Executive Board of the Icelandic Hekla Club in Minnesota. She joined the board of the Snorri Foundation in 2019.
Jody says her favorite part of being involved with the Snorri Programs is helping others experience the same sense of wonder, belonging, and understanding that she experienced on her Snorri Plus trip. Additionally, she is grateful for the friendships she has gained through her involvement with the Snorri Programs and for all the amazing, generous people who bring the programs to life year after year.
