We offer three unique and unforgettable travel opportunities that connect North Americans and Icelanders with their relatives, heritage, and identity. If you would like to: connect with relatives and make lifelong friends, learn to speak Icelandic, immerse yourself in Icelandic or Icelandic-North American culture, or travel to spectacular locations, then browse the programs below to find the one that is right for you!
Did You Know...?
- Between 1875 and 1915 nearly 20% of Iceland’s population emigrated from Iceland to North America
- They left Iceland for many reasons, including the harsh climate, poor socio-economic conditions, and devastation caused by the eruption of the volcano Askja (click here to read more about the emigration story)
- There are an estimated 250,000 people of Icelandic descent living in North America
- Over 600 people have participated in the Snorri Programs over the past 20 years
