Atli has a wide variety of work experience, having done everything from working behind a bakery counter to servicing air conditioning systems.
After graduating from high school in Iceland, Atli pursued further education in Denmark, first studying at a folk high school, Testrup Højskole, and later at Aarhus Art School (Århus kunstskole). He has also held various volunteer positions in the cultural sphere. For example, he helped organize and host the 2023 Nordic Youth Democracy Festival (Ungdommens Folkemøde Nord). Atli has been on the board of Ung norræn, the youth branch of the Nordic Association, since March 2023.
Atli has ancestors on both sides of his family who emigrated to North America. He himself lives part-time in Vancouver, British Columbia, where his girlfriend Claire is studying. Claire and Atli met when she participated in the Snorri Program in 2022. Since then, they have traveled around Iceland and Canada together, and they currently split their time between the two countries.
